Behind The Scenes Action

So when I dreamed up this crazy idea of the art bus, I really had no idea what it would entail.  It has continually morphed as we have worked on it. Covid-19 has certainly hit us hard with its development.  Originally we planned for our CTE students to do the build out.  However, due to school closing early at the end of the year and us starting late...that just wasn't going to be realistic.  So many of our students remained remote and school just didn't look the same for everyone this year.  So we adapted!  I wrote another grant and received it! WHOOOOO HOOOOO!  Thank you to the Alabama State Council on the Arts for providing us another $5,200.00. We had to hire out our labor since the students couldn't work on the build out.  We are so fortunate to have Dennis Harris on board for this project.  His knowledge and expertise on converting vehicles for other purposes has been invaluable!.

So what has happened since we have hit the ground again?

1. Hired Mr. Harris! Score!

2. Received another grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts. $5,200.00

3. Write, write, and write!  This requires a bit of an explanation....

That good ole behind the scenes work that no one sees or can fully appreciate has been happening.  You guessed it... CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT!

Tara Sartorius was contracted to develop curriculum for our program.  We have talked so many times on the phone and had our first post Covid meeting on October 15, 2020 to really dig in to our ideas. We were super careful to stay the proper 6 feet apart. Tara connected us to a wonderful paper donation from the Alabama State Council On The Arts which I picked up and carried home.  I then took it off to Craftsman Printing Inc in Homewood who cut it down to the proper size we needed to work with. They kindly boxed it all up for me.  Thanks to Patrick Glenn, President of Craftsman Printing Inc. for taking care of this for us and donating the labor.  Did I mention he is my twin brother? 😀Nothing like family to help out when you need some help! He plans to donate more paper to our project as well! I am so excited!

Tara did a quick video to explain a few things about our day and paper donation:
